Empty of Anthems

My pen is, once again, unimpressed. So, in an effort to keep things fresh, I am posting two older pieces of sorta silly prose. The first being the late night inner dialogues of a chronic insomniac, and the second being the casual observations of a consummate people watcher...

Emily, write from where you are internally. Where are you? Where are you at in your journey? Take time out to stop; listen, not to the noise of this world or in your mind, but of Something Greater.

"Being confient of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you shall continue it until the day of Jesus Christ."

I'm a people watcher too. Watching's okay, it's following that gets me in trouble. !?! I mean...following could get...um...any one in trouble. Yeah. That's it.

I sorta ditto what Jason has said...

how much have we taken time to "ponder the trees"

has nature become a distraction from its Creator?

I know that sometimes this is my case

Love your "old" posts. I love to people watch too.

And hey it is OK not to have anything to post or at least post for the world to see. :) I understand completely.

I agree with the others that the cacophony of life can really encroach upon the powers of expression. Hmm...that sounded a bit too pretentious, didn't it? Well, anyway, sometimes "stuff" does get in the way.

But, I also think there's another important thing to note. You have a tremendous gift for expression (via writing, via photography, etc.), and that gift is not your own. God has certainly used it in the past, at least from what I've seen on your blog, and He'll certainly use it moving forward, as long as you continue to long passionately for Him to do so.

ponder was a word I used, but I hope that the definition doesn't imply a negative.

THREE TICKETS?!?!?!?!? Are you kidding me?

Wow. And even in your scrubs. Are Texas cops heartless?? I would have been like "oh yes I'm sorry for such and such...I was busy saving babies' lives all night so I was a little preoccupied" :) Except I probably wouldn't have the nerve to do that.

You should move to Indiana...cops "in general" are somewhat nicer up here...it's the Midwest thing.

it's not a question of greater sin, or even a place of sin and no sin

rather, that it is the sin of man's heart that condemn him

it is not our earthly body or flesh which will be judged, it is not our body which live into eternity

I would ask what is your definition of sin?

what is sin?

what "life" is this particular scripture referring to? to this flesh and blood?

(heart to mean soul)

does not the soul exist even though the body fails to exist?

"sins of the heart"

...that which we were born into, this sin nature, and this sin nature will bring us into eternity unless there is a justification, a redemption

I believe that "sins of the heart" do not have to manifest themselves in the flesh

I think that our definition of sin has been allocated to the flesh, only the flesh, and we are comfortable there

I don't like separating sin, into categories of "heart" and "flesh"

it is sin that condemns us, just sin.

because I believe that we can "tame" the "flesh"

we can be moral

however, we alone cannot change our hearts, we cannot (I believe) tame our hearts

oh, I believe there can exist a highly moral person. someone that's every action is "good"

(in truth, without the Holy Spirit the action is not actually "good" it is only "moral" by every standard.)

the heart can deceive. from the evil heart can rise "moral" and "immoral"

the curious thing is-

from the pure heart, there too can arise "immorality" though "morality" be its major "export"

(this will occur during the process of sanctification)

what is the value of our flesh?
